There is no more sociable way of eating than serving tapas or inviting guests to dig in to a big pan of paella. To make this as easy as possible - and cut down on the washing up - you need a great paella pan.
A specially-designed paellera or polished steel pan created for cooking paella will not just make sure that the food tastes as good as it possibly can but will also look great when set down on the table for your family or guests to admire.
If you want to serve up an authentic paella, you need an authentic paella pan. Choose from the Paellera Valencian range if you want an authentic product that all but guarantees an authentic-tasting dish.
Made in Valencia, these Spanish classics are rigid and durable and conduct heat evenly and quickly to make creating the perfect paella a breeze. The slightly convex base of the pans allows cooking oil to collect in the middle of the pan, which is great for the first stages of paella creation.
The shallow, sloping sides ensure even cooking of the rice and help with great flavour infusions. No one wants a bland paella and you won’t get one if you pick top ingredients and a great paella pan.
There are sizes of paellera to suit a multitude of occasions, ranging from a small 26cm version big enough to create one or two main courses or a few servings of tapas to the giant 70cm version that can cope with between 19 and 24 main courses or serve up 30 portions of tapas.
In between, the pans come in a 32cm version to cook four main courses, 38cm for a seven-person meal, 46cm to cook for eight, and 60cm to produce 16 mains or 20 tapas portions.
Whatever size you choose, all the pans are perfect for using on a gas hob - or perhaps you fancy being traditional and using an open fire or a gas paella burner? The pans will cope with all these options.
Make sure you get rid of the manufacturer’s anti-rust coating by washing well before using your pan for the first time. After each wash, dry it thoroughly and coat with a little olive or vegetable oil to seal the surface and prevent rust. Sounds simple? It really is.
